CPG won the tender for the 10.2 megawatt build, own, and operate power station for Kimberley Nickels Savannah Nickel Project. Utilising the latest in MTU series 4000 engines, CPM won the project by demonstrating a significant fuel saving.
Here, CPG has been able to utilise the New MTU product which is the 12V 4,000 engine as a power station prime mover.
"We purchased and installed one of these engines in 2003 at our Norseman power station and this has proved to be a reliable alternative to engines previously used," Mr Hodges said.
"The 4,000 utilises the latest fuel technology out of Germany and has made a marked difference in fuel consumption on site. As you can appreciate, fuel is one of the biggest costs to the mining sector when operating remote areas."
