Contract Power International was contracted by First Quantum Minerals to design procure construct install and commission a 7 MW high speed power station as a support supply for the HFO plant being installed by FQM.

CPI arrived in Mauritania in November 2006 to install the station.

This environment would have to be the harshest we have ever had to place plant such as this in. Temperatures in excess of 50 degrees were experienced by our crew on this site and along with the afternoon sandstorms it made for a great mix of challenges in both the design and the operation of the plant.
