CPM have been in the power generation business for over a decade and a half. CPM's humble beginnings stem from a surge in the mining sector in the early nineties when demand grew for companies capable of conducting remote on site servicing and supply of power generation equipment. At that time there were few companies in Western Australia offering a 24 hour on call criteria for mining clients.
The services offered were mechanical and electrical in nature. Local workforces were not up to speed with the ever increasing complexity and technical nature of systems being installed. CPM were able to offer the outside assistance they required for fault finding and repair work.
The basis of CPM's formation was to target these remote sites and offer the type of assistance they really needed. CPM then got involved in the packaging of generating sets for its clients that called for totally different configurations to off-the-shelf units. With the award of the Central and remote services runs in 1994 CPM expanded its work force to 23 permanent employees, electricians and diesel fitters, all with a high degree of mining experience.
From there CPM began building power stations, and in 1995 were awarded a contract to put a fully automatic power station into Broome WA at 12 mile. This was the first fully integrated, unmanned, remote accessed power station of its type supplied to Western Power. CPM achieved this utilising the Hienzman Sci-Tec governor system and a PLC based operating system.
The power plant is still in service today with very few recorded problems.
As the company expanded its interests off shore the need to restructure the business became imperative in order to meet the growing demand for our services. Out of this restructure has come the Contract Power Group of Companies (CPG). This group now encompasses Contract Power Hire, Contract Power Australia, Contract Power International, Contract Power Management Australia, and Pilbara Power WA PL. We now conduct our business in over 6 countries spanning 3 continents around the globe.
CPG will continue to service all of its client's needs anywhere in the world and will continue looking toward the use of more efficient and cost effective solutions to the power generation demands we find challenging us every day.
